FUN FACT
There are about 600 different species of mosses found in British Columbia. The Sphagnum moss, commonly found in Tofino, produce small capsules which are like miniature confetti cannon containing compressed air and spores. When they burst, they propel spores up to 20 cm away that then get carried by the wind and displaced somewhere new to start growing.
